Digital Editing of Medieval Manuscripts (DEMM) is a joint training programme between Charles University in Prague, Queen Mary University of London, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, the University of Siena, and the library of the Klosterneuburg Monastery. It equips advanced MA and PhD students in medieval studies with the necessary skills to edit medieval texts and work in a digital environment.
Workshop aims to give an overview of the basic concepts of XML and supporting technologies, familiarize participants with parts of TEI vocabulary essential to critical editions and showcase chosen transformation possibilities for TEI encoded files. We’ll be mixing lectures with hands-on practical sessions to lay a foundation for independent work on digital editing projects leading to its online publication.
